Gerry Faber served as a Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Kent County for more than 20 years. During his tenure, he handled serious felony matters, including violent crimes and officer-involved incidents. After retiring from public service, he continued his work in the legal field as a legal instructor and private attorney.
With more than two decades of criminal-law experience, Mr. Faber focuses his practice on high-stakes felony defense, including homicide cases, self-defense matters, firearm and drug-related charges, and Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) offenses. His former role as a prosecutor gives him a detailed understanding of how police and prosecutors build cases, allowing him to identify weaknesses in the evidence, charging decisions, and investigative work. When a negotiated resolution is not in a client's best interest, he focuses the jury's attention on the facts and legal issues that drive the case's outcome.
Mr. Faber is also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He credits his military service with shaping his discipline, persistence, and commitment to seeing challenging cases through to completion. Originally from Florida, he enlisted in the Marines after graduating from high school. He has lived abroad and in eight different states before establishing his home in West Michigan in 2000.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii, graduating magna cum laude, and received his law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, graduating cum laude in 2004. Outside the office, Mr. Faber enjoys golfing, participating in shooting sports, and spending time with his family.
