Criminal Penalties for Selling Controlled Substances in Ann Arbor

The penalties for selling or dealing drugs in Ann Arbor vary greatly depending on the type of drug and amount of the drug that has been sold or distributed. The complete list of drugs in each schedule can be found in Michigan drug legislation.

If convicted of delivering or selling a Schedule 1 or 2 drug, like heroin, up to life in prison is possible (for amounts over 1 kg). The maximum sentence for small amounts starts at 20 years behind bars and a $25,000 fine.

Ecstasy and Methamphetamine are both dealt with separately from other scheduled narcotics by law, and dealing either can be punished by up to 20 years behind bars and a $25,000 fine, regardless of amount. Marijuana is also dealt with separately, with penalties starting at 4 years behind bars and a $20,000 fine for small amounts, and up to 15 years behind bars and a $10,000,000 fine for over 45 kg (the largest fine possible under MI drug laws).
